The heavy quark potential in pNRQCD
نویسنده
چکیده
In a recent series of papers [1,2] a detailed study of a suitable Effective Field Theory for heavy quark bound states, called potential NRQCD (pNRQCD) [3], has been started. Since several issues have been treated in that context, we address the reader to the quoted literature for a complete overview of the achieved results. Here we only mention the 1-loop matching [4] and the static energies of the hybrids [5] presented in these proceedings. While in the following, due to its considerable importance, we recollect and summarize our understanding of the heavy quarkonium static potential. Let us define, first, what we mean with heavy quarkonium potential. Being heavy quarkonium a non-relativistic bound system, it is characterized by at least three energy scales: the mass or hard scale, m, the momentum or soft scale, mv, corresponding to the inverse of the bound-state size and the energy or ultrasoft (US) scale, mv (v is the heavy quark velocity). As a consequence, when US degrees of freedom are neglected, heavy quarkonium can be described as a bound state φ governed by a non-relativistic Schrödinger equation of the type

Quarkonium: an effective field theory approach
We discuss heavy quarkonium in the framework of pNRQCD, a QCD effective theory appropriate for the study of heavy quark bound systems.
متن کاملQuarkonium at Finite Temperature
There was considerable interest in the properties and the fate of heavy quarkonium states at finite temperature since the famous conjecture by Matsui and Satz [1]. It has been argued that color screening in medium will lead to quarkonium dissociation above deconfinement, which in turn can signal quark gluon plasma formation in heavy ion collisions. The basic assumption behind the conjecture by ...
متن کاملThe Renormalization group in non-relativistic theories
The resummation of logarithms in Quantum Field Theories is a long tale plenty of successes, yet the resummation of logarithms in non-relativistic theories has remained elusive. This was the most frustrating, since the first quantum field theory log ever computed was the Lamb shift one. We briefly review recent progress on the resummation of logarithms of α, which appear in the physics of non-re...
متن کاملThe Renormalization Group Improvement of the QCD Static Potentials
We resum the leading ultrasoft logs of the singlet and octet static QCD potentials within potential NRQCD. We then obtain the complete three-loop renormalization group improvement of the singlet QCD static potential. The discrepancies between the perturbative evaluation and the lattice results at short distances are slightly reduced. Preprint submitted to Elsevier Preprint 2 March 2008 Recently...
متن کاملHeavy Hadron Spectroscopy
After having played a major role in the foundation of QCD, heavy hadron spectroscopy has witnessed in the last years a renewal of interest led by the many new data coming from the B factories, CLEO and the Tevatron and by the progress made in the theoretical methods. I will summarize the former and mostly focus on the latter. Much of the theoretical progress in the physics of heavy hadrons come...
